81. Act to have overriding effect

The provisions of this Act shall have effect notwithstanding anything consistent therewith contained in any other law for the time being in force.

Provided that nothing contained in the Act shall restict any person from exercising any right conferred under the Copyright Act 1957 or the Patents Act 1970.

Summary

The Information Technology Act 2000 shall have an overriding effect in spite of anything inconsistent contained in any other law. However, remedies under the Copyright and Patents Act are still available in addition to the remedies under the IT Act 2000.
